Carrie Story, of Sandy Ridge and owner of Clay Revolution, spent this past Thursday through Sunday at the Metal Clay Artists Symposium (MCAS) in Winston-Salem.

This was an international event, with attendees from as far away as Portugal, England and Canada. Carrie spoke on Friday night about her silver clay, Project X. The featured artist was Clement Marquaire from Brussels, Belgium. I participated in a modern granulation class using fine silver clay to design a pendant, and it was so much fun!

Congratulations to Josh Hudson, Sandy Ridge celebrity! Josh has just signed a recording contract with New Folk Records and the Guitars for Vets organization. Guitars for Vets aids our disabled veterans in finding peace and emotional stability through the love of music.

Josh states: “‘That’s Why We Stand’ was written to honor our heroes and the sacrifices made for us to be safe and free in this great country. Sandy Ridge Elementary School hosted a Back to School Cookout at their new shelter behind the school this past Thursday for students and their families. This was a meet and greet new staff and reconnect with old favorites. Good luck Bulldogs on the upcoming school year!

The Regal Group (located in the old bank building) needs empty containers such as laundry detergent, dish detergent, Downey, etc. They will be refilling these with the same product to give out at monthly Food Bank Drives. Drop off during regular business hours.

Shelvie Dodson invites everyone to Delta Methodist Church’s Annual Yard Sale September 7th to 9th. She states, “We have furniture, jewelry, clothes, antiques, kitchen ware and lots of other items.

Sandy Ridge Community Center Bingo Fundraiser will return on Saturday, September 23rd at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Dorothy Chaney Cancer Benefit Bingo will be Saturday, September 30, at Sandy Ridge Community Building. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and Bingo will start at 6 p.m. Each $25 ticket includes 20 Bingo Sheets and 1 Cover All Sheet. Hotdog Plates will be $6. All proceeds will go to Dorothy to help with medical expenses.
